Just a quick reminder to let you know that the next Postmortem is next Tuesday, May 27th at the Thirsty Bear Brewery @ 661 Howard St. (between 2nd and 3rd).
I also got an email about an event called the Concept Art Jam which "is an event where we can all meet up as artists and feed off of everybody's creativity. The event will consist of live models as well as food and prizes! Come one, come all - spread the word!" The details of that event as listed on the poster include: Models for drawing/painting with imaginative themes and costumes. There will be food ($5) judging and prizes. It is Wednesday May 28th from 5-9 in room 910.
Also, last but not least, GAME JAM 3 will be going on this Saturday from 12-6 and will include free lunch. The idea is to come together with fellow students and make a game design concept from scratch. The theme of this quarters Game Jam will be announced at the event. See you there!

Greetings GAD Club,
There are a lot of things going on at school this week so let me break it down....
Spring Fling is this week.... so that means we need to get some points for our major so we can win the pizza party at the end of the week.
- All week Monday - Friday 12-1 and 5-6 you can bring in clothes for the clothing drive to earn points for GAD. (elevator lobby)
- Tuesday from 12-1 you can also earn us points by creating artwork from recyclable materials in the student lounge
- And on Thursday 12-1 in the lounge you can earn us points by playing a game of Jeopardy with a Twist (no I don't think that means Twister although I suggested it at the Peer Mentor meeting.)
- Other things going on for spring fling that don't involve points are donating to the Plant a Tree Drive (same time/place as the clothing drive) and there is a Blood Drive going on Wednesday 12-6 in Union Plaza meanwhile there will also be free food inside during that time. (to make an appointment online please visit www.beadoner.com (sponsor code: AI)
Other important events going on this week are Dining with the Dean which is Wednesday 5-6 in the Gallery, and then on Thursday 12-1 is Major Conversations.... i'll have more info on those at the meeting.
Club member Hadidjah let me know about another interesting art competition that others might be interested in from Deviant Art and Capcom about Okami. Check it out at http://news.deviantart.com/article/46598/

Also next week we are going to have a guest speaker from iWin here in San Francisco regarding interships the company will be posting soon, as well as information on how he got into the industry.
Last weeks meeting I talked a bit about a couple forum posts that I made. I would really like it if someone (anyone, lol) participated in either of these posts and more posts on the forums. Here are the links

GAD Club Week 2
Good evening GADs and GADettes,
Tonight I will be serving you the news a little ahead of schedule *gasp*.
First the bread and butter... Regular meetings are Mondays 5-6 in room 612, GADLAN is set for Fridays 5-11ish on the 4th floor this quarter, and the game development project will continue starting this Saturday 12-6 in the basement and go bi-weekly from then. More info about each of those at the meeting (or you could just email me ya know)
For an appetizer I'd like to mention that the representative from Activision will not be speaking on Tuesday like I said last week but will still be at the Job Fair looking for eligible students interested in jobs. If you need help with your resume there is a resume cafe on Tuesday I believe.
The main course for tonight is that there are a lot of interesting contest going on out in the world today that some of you should consider entering. Firstly there is a SOE G.I.R.L. Game Design Competition which I hope y'all were emailed about. If not, here is the link http://www.station.sony.com/girl/ . I heard about this one yesterday for those interested in concept art, http://news.deviantart.com/article/45697/ . And it looks like Unreal is doing mod making contest like they did with UT2k4 but this time for UT3.... $1,000,000 for making something awesome in Unreal! There are lots of categories too so check out http://www.makesomethingunreal.com/ . There is another one her for a project team that I may have talked about a couple times already. HopeLab is running a contest for making a game design to help teens battle cancer for a 10k reward. See more at www.hopelab.org/wanted
And for desert, the Card and Board Game Self Publishing speaker I talked about last meeting is set to come to school on Saturday, April 26th from 1-3 pm (room tbd) and all are welcome and encouraged to go! I am excited to show off our board game!
That is all I have for now, see you at GAD Club
Chef Brian
(sorry I just watched a bit of Iron Chef...)
GAD Club Week 13?
That's what it feels like....
Anyway..... greetings GADlings, old and new. Here is the run down of events going on Week 1 of the Spring quarter...
Regular meetings are at the same time and same place, so mark down Mondays 5-6pm in room 612 for GAD Club. This week we will re-introduce ourselves, and talk about what we want to accomplish this quarter.
During the meeting we will need to pick a date and location for GAD-LAN, as well as Gameshop (thats like a workshop where we make games.....ya..... I don't know I just like to make up names for everything)
I don't have my peer mentor cheat sheet with me atm but I will let you all know when the free food opportunities are going to be at the first meeting, because everyone likes free food right?
I do know that Monday morning is the sugar rush thing again (aka free donuts and other goodies) and of course there is always the Club Fair on Thursday! I'll be there (5-7pm in the 1st floor of 10UN this time) serving you free cotton candy again, and there will be other goodies, fun stuff, and an opportunity to win some prizes... also if GAD Club isn't enough, you can sign up for other clubs too.
Another important thing coming up is Job Fair on week 2. Normally Job Fair is just about part-time jobs for students that need to work while going to school, but this time we will be visited by Claudia of Activision who is looking for people to hire locally. On top of that she will be at the school on Tuesday of that week to talk about recruiting for the gaming industry and how to get a job! The details are still being worked on but I will let everyone know as soon as that is figured out.
Also i'd like to recap the changes in the officer list
Pres - Me
VP - Julia
TT - Wok
Adviser - Denise Hall
Webmistress - Ivy
That is all for now. I'll see you at GAD Club!
